FINDING YOUR FEET – DAY 7
Have we been finding our feet, or remembering the support that is here for us every moment of every day: the ground? This 2-way movement – feet down, ground up?
How lovely to know that we don’t have to manage everything all on our own, that we can hand ourselves over to the earth and simply rest, even if only for a moment. And that moment grows…
These words by David Whyte move me:
“Start with
the ground
you know,
the pale ground
beneath your feet,
your own
way to begin
the conversation.
Start with your own
question,
give up on other
people’s questions.”
Grounding into our footsteps is a way to begin ‘knowing’. Today’s image is especially inspirational: the way this oak tree has held its ground against the north wind, each year returning to leaf. Rooting our own feet deep into the earth can help us find the support to sustain us through the different weather of our lives.
This course has been an invitation to let your feet lead you to stability. The sensations of this moment are real, and stability opens a door to our very own inner wisdom. Like the adage says, an acorn will become an oak if given soil, water and sun.
I wish you well with your own grounding, and your fruition.
Inspirational Poem
David Whyte: Start close In
Start close in,
don’t take the second step
or the third,
start with the first
thing
close in,
the step
you don’t want to take.
Start close in,
don’t take the second step
or the third,
start with the first
thing
close in,
the step
you don’t want to take.
To find
another’s voice,
follow
your own voice,
wait until
that voice
becomes a
private ear
listening
to another.
Start right now
take a small step
you can call your own
don’t follow
someone else’s
heroics, be humble
and focused,
start close in,
don’t mistake
that other
for your own.
