FIRST AID PRACTICES
Feel free to try out any of these mindfulness first aid practices. They use the 5 senses and the breath. It may be helpful to keep the eyes open, but feel free to close them if you prefer. You may want to watch the video “Working with difficulty” as background information. If you prefer to use audio, dip in here too.
Only do as much as feels OK for you, and please stop at any time: this is an act of self-kindness. Pushing through difficulty can be unkind to the part of us that is feeling vulnerable.
The best attitude to bring is one of curiosity. This stuff works best if we can find a way to hold our fear gently with kindness, rather than trying to obliterate it with mindfulness.
