WHAT HELPS ON A WOBBLY DAY
COURSE INTRODUCTION
This course builds towards using a RAIN practice to help us through difficulties. RAIN recognises (R) what thoughts and feelings are here, and allows (A) them to be heard and felt. We quit beating ourselves up, which allows us to find what helps through investigating (I) choices and nurturing (N) ourselves.
Feel free to read the words and try out the invitations, or use the audio and video guided practices. There are teaching clips to explain in a bit more detail how RAIN might help. You can print off the tick chart pdf and fill it in to help keep track of what you are finding useful.
Use as much or as little feels helpful.
Inspirational Poem
Wendell Berry: The peace of wild things
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
